Geri-Fit for Older Adults
Hip Cradle

Description: This stretch is highly recommended to anyone that has hip joint problems like bursitis or osteoarthritis. Although this exercise is shown in its advanced version, most people will not have as much range of motion. Start out slow and gradually work your way up.

1. Sit up nice and straight.

2. Position your arms in a dumbbell curl fashion.

3. Grab underneath your left leg and cradle the left leg in the curled position as shown.

4. Bring the leg in close to the chest and hold for 10-15 seconds.

5. Switch sides and repeat these same steps.

Variation: To improve range of motion, lift the hip higher and hold it closer to the chest.
